Today, I said goodbye to my PaPaw...

Last Thursday, Daddy got a phone call that my PaPaw was not feeling well. Friday morning, Daddy, Mommy, and I rushed up to Elizabethtown to see him.

When we got there, he was really sick. I ran over to his chair and when I said, "HI PAPAW...I LOVE YOU!!!" he opened his eyes, got a BIG grin on his face and said, "Hi Aslan, I love you too." We stayed with him all day Friday and Saturday. Saturday night, PaPaw went to live with Jesus and got to see Mimi for the first time in 2 years and little Phil for the first time in over 50 years! We were very sad, but also happy for him. On Sunday morning when I walked in, I asked Mommy, "Where's PaPaw?" She told me that he had gone to live with Jesus and I said with a big smile on my face, "He got out of his chair!"

We went to see him on Monday and Tuesday and I gave him a baseball from Shea Stadium for Carter, some art work that I had done in school, and put a picture of Carter and me in his hand to hold on to.

Today was his funeral and I said goodbye to him for the last time. Everytime I went to see PaPaw, he always had a little stuffed animal toy of some kind that played music and usually danced. It seems like I have a million of them. So today, as we went up to see him for the last time, I took a little stuffed lion and put it in his lap so he could always remember me sitting there.

My PaPaw was a great man. He loved me so much and I will never forget him. It was sad to say goodbye to him, but I'm happy and lucky to know he will be looking after me from heaven.
